About

"The study of evolution is the study of ourselves, our origins, and the very nature of life itself." — Richard Dawkins

I am Rohan Nath, a PhD student at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Berhampur, currently pursuing an integrated MS-PhD in the Comparative and Evolutionary Genomics Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Arunkumar Krishnan. My research focuses on the evolution, pharmacology, and pharmacogenomics of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), with the broader goal of advancing personalized approaches to drug design.

Research

Comparative and Evolutionary Genomics

Comparative genomics is the field that compares the genomic features of different organisms to understand their evolutionary relationships and functional differences.

This approach helps identify conserved genes and regulatory elements across species, shedding light on evolutionary processes.

Pharmacogenomics

Pharmacogenomics studies how genetic variations influence an individual's response to drugs, enabling personalized medicine.

This field aims to optimize drug efficacy and minimize adverse effects based on genetic profiles.

Structural Biology

Structural biology investigates the 3D structures of biological molecules to understand their function and interactions.

It is crucial for designing targeted therapies, particularly for G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs).

Phylogenomics

Phylogenomics uses genomic data to reconstruct evolutionary relationships among species, enhancing phylogenetic accuracy.

It helps resolve complex evolutionary histories and understand the genetic basis of adaptation.
